Baseball Hall gets no new members; Schilling 16 votes shy
Like many baseball writers, C. Trent Rosecrans viewed the Hall of Fame vote as a labor of love. Schilling, a right-handed ace who won three World Series titles, finished 16 votes short of the 75% threshold necessary for enshrinement. Schilling, Clemens and Bonds will be joined on next year's ballot by sluggers Alex Rodriguez and David Ortiz. California lifts stay-home order for Sacramento region
SACRAMENTO, Calif. โ California lifted a stay-at-home order in the 13-county Sacramento region on Tuesday as hospital conditions improved, a rare turn of good news as the state pushes through what Gov. Three of the state's five regions โ the San Francisco Bay Area, Central Valley and Southern California โ remain under the stay-at-home order because their intensive care capacity at hospitals is severely limited. To try to get the virus in check California, is moving more quickly to distribute vaccines. Newsom imposed the nation's first statewide stay-at-home order in March. Supervisor Mike Ziegenmeyer of Sutter County in the Sacramento region acknowledged as much when he reacted to the order being lifted.
76ers fan to give memorabilia back to Johnny Bench
The winning bidder on over $1 million worth of memorabilia from a recent auction of Johnny Benchโs personal collection is returning the items to the Hall of Fame catcher, with whom heโs been friends since 1967. Businessman Alan Horwitz, a fan of the Philadelphia 76ers who sits courtside at home games wearing his Sixth Man jersey, successfully bid for Benchโs 1975 and โ76 World Series rings last month. Horwitz said he and Bench first met during Christmas vacation before Bench took over catching duties for the Cincinnati Reds beginning with the 1967 season. โI am truly stunned by Alanโs generous gesture and am grateful and proud that these trophies and memorabilia pieces will be on display for millions of fans to experience,โ Bench said. Sales totaled just under $2 million, according to Hunt Auctions, which ran the sale.
Hall of Fame Dodgers manager Lasorda hospitalized in ICU
FULLERTON, Calif. โ Hall of Fame manager Tom Lasorda has been hospitalized in Southern California. The Los Angeles Dodgers said Sunday that their 93-year-old former manager was in intensive care and resting comfortably at a hospital in Orange County. He attended the teamโs Game 6 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Oct. 27 in Texas that clinched the Dodgersโ first World Series title since 1988. Lasorda had a record of 1,599-1,439 while managing the Dodgers from 1976-96, guiding them to World Series championships in 1981 and '88. In 2012, Lasorda was hospitalized in New York after having a heart attack.

After a brief struggle, Jennifer Montana pried the girl away, and Dalzell fled from the home, authorities said. He and Jennifer Montana, a philanthropist and former model, have been married since 1985 and have four adult children.

Woods has 82 victories on the PGA Tour, along with five on the European Tour and victories on the Japan Golf Tour, Asian Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia. Meanwhile, Cisco Systems announced partnerships with six players, divided evenly among the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour. On the PGA Tour, it signed Keith Mitchell, Viktor Hovland and Chez Reavie. He wroked primarily for Golf Magazine, and contributed to Golf Digest, Golf World and PARGolf.

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - The annual battle among the toy elite has returned at the National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester. On Wednesday morning, 12 finalists were announced for the 2019 Toy Hall of Fame induction. This year's finalists include Care Bears, coloring book, Fisher-Price Corn Popper, Jenga, Magic the Gathering, Masters of the Universe, Matchbox Cars, My Little Pony, Nerf Blaster, Risk, smartphone, and the top. In order to be inducted, a toy must have icon status as being widely recognized, longevity, be seen as a catalyst for discovery, and innovation. Fans can cast their votes online for finalists from September 11 - 18.

2011: Hall of Fame baseball manager Dick Williams, who led the Oakland Athletics to back-to-back World Series titles in 1972 and 1973, dies of ruptured aortic aneurysm at age 82 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Williams also managed for five other teams, leading his squads to three American League pennants and one National League pennant. He is one of seven managers to win pennants in both major leagues and only the second manager to lead three franchises to the World Series. He and Lou Piniella are the only managers in history to lead four teams to seasons of 90 or more wins. He also played for seven different teams between 1951 and 1964.
